We partnered with Logitech to enhance the user experience and design of their new smart conference speaker, Gather, along with its TV UI and SaaS web platform. I led the entire UX process, from the initial audit and design strategy to usability testing and design production, ensuring a seamless and user-centered experience. Through research, iteration, and validation, we refined the product before handing it off to development.

Identify the problems

For the UX audit, we explored features and user flows and ran hallway tests on the existing design. A big part of the audit relied on the design team's expertise in interaction design, such as improving overall usability, and fixing confusing UX copy. Feedback was consolidated in FigJam, key issues were identified, and solutions were brainstormed. We then compiled everything into a report with recommendations for the client.

Build the right solution

To build the right features for the SaaS web platform, we conducted multiple user interviews, focusing on office managers who use the platform to manage clients and track data usage. These conversations gave us valuable insights into their needs, pain points, and desired functionalities, helping us shape a more efficient and user-friendly tool.

Create a new design language

We established four key principles for the new visual design language: better aesthetics with attention to detail, a strong brand connection, consistency across all touchpoints, and meaningful motion design to address the main issues found in our audit. The concept covered colors, typography, icons, UI components, and motion demos.

Interactive Prototype

To validate our interaction design, we built a high-fidelity prototype for usability testing. While the main flows were created in Figma as click-through prototypes, we also conducted multiple hallway tests with colleagues to refine micro-interactions. Testing user reactions to complex gestures like drag, pinch, and long tap early in the process helped ensure a smooth and intuitive experience.

Validate the new design

We tested with six participants—four end users and two IT staff members to understand their workflows and experiences with video conferencing. They walked through tasks using our prototypes, sharing feedback on what worked, what didn’t, and what they expected from the product. This helped us refine the design and improve the overall user experience.

Complete the design and handover

After testing, we iterated on the design based on user feedback. We then spent three weeks finalizing design deliverables before handing them off to Logitech’s development vendor with all necessary documentation and assets. Throughout development, we provided ongoing support, working closely with the team to address any design-related questions and ensure a seamless implementation.
